Using Merlyn in the classroom allows teachers to answer student questions from anywhere in the room – or the lesson. Instead of going back to a desk, opening a browser, typing in the question and finding the correct response, they can simply say, “Hey, Merlyn!” to direct the question to the AI.

Voice assistants like Siri and Alexa aren’t allowed in the classroom because of privacy issues with voice recordings being processed and stored off-device. Merlyn converts your spoken request into text before processing, and then immediately deletes the audio clip so your voice never leaves the room.
Merlyn is also contextual, which means it listens to what the teacher is asking for and surfaces information based on what other teachers have found helpful.
Symphony Classroom goes far beyond other smart speakers, being the only one built especially to handle the noisy and dynamic environment of a room full of children. The purpose-built far-field microphone array gives Merlyn the ears to hear any request, whilst the 92dB ultrawide dispersion speakers gives it the voice to project all the way to the back of a large assembly hall.
Also very different to regular smart speakers available, Symphony Classroom has four HDMI ports, four USB ports, WiFi and Bluetooth to ensure teachers can tether any of their devices, plus Ethernet for a faster and more stable internet connection.
